An experimental blog primarily to collect information on Tuffy screwdrivers, made by the Swallow Airplane Co. just after WW2. Since little information is available on the Net, and much of it is incorrect, this may be useful to others who have these old tools and are curious about their history.

I have 12 screwdrivers & a set of drive screwdrivers (1) flat tip new in a box and (2) handle blanks never used. My Dad worked there I think before the war. I also have a Shop Smith he bought in April 1946 with all the accessories with original paper books and sales receipt
Thank you for taking the time and continued effort to share the history you have acquired about TUFFY. I received my first one today and was blown away by the raw, industrial feel that instantly lets you know it's lasted the test of time. This made me curious about the brand, and after a web search, I came across your piece and am genuinely grateful that its history has been recovered and shared for others to learn.
